Region 13 Cluster Meeting – An Evening with Legends

Travelling around the country meeting members will always be one of the greatest experiences you can encounter as a member, not only for the event but also the banter, especially during the journey with 3 fantastic 41 clubs members and great friends in the guise of Peter Good IRO Bruce Bennett, Past RTBI President/41 Club LDM, not forgetting Bosco Townsend `Beeston 41Club Legend.

It took over 4 hours to travel to the event from Nottingham to Wales , however it was one of the most hilarious, fun making journeys with great fellowship, we even found our route took to a detour cross country. We simply cried with laughter.

When we eventually arrived, a warm welcome was received by so many, the room full of legends of 41 club including Past International & GB&I President John Bellwood, Past GB&i 41Club President Mike Fitchett and David Cambell current GB&I President, but of course the members themselves, those who give the region the life and oxygen, of which shone through brightly on the evening with over 100 attendees, not only from GB&I but also members from Costa Del Sol.

The evening was supported by great speakers, non other than former England and Lions Legend David Duckham MBE, who gave great  antidotal stories of his journey in life, the characters he worked along side and a truly inspirational speaker and gentleman.

David John Duckham MBE is a retired English rugby union player. He played 36 games for England from 1969 to 1976 and scored 10 tries. Duckham made his debut at centre, partnering John Spencer against Ireland in 1969.He was the only English back in the 1973 Barbarians side that beat the All Blacks 23–11 at Cardiff Arms Park.
Visiting others clubs is a must, meeting new friends and old, continuing to oil those hinges of friendships world wide whilst exploring new horizons, that’s 41`club.

The evening celebration contained friendship, fellowship, community service and international travel, all the ingredients that make us an amazing association.

Yours In Continued Friendship
